Welcome to the first post of my new blog. It seems like a good place to start is with the question, “What is this blog?”
It is an excellent question, and if I’m most honest I think it is one that I will be figuring out the answer to as I write it. Here are some hopes:
It is a place to express myself - depending on the day or the month I have lots of ideas that float through my brain. Some of them I find pretty interesting and want to write about - so those will go in here I hope.
It is a place for people to learn more about me and about therapy as I see it. At this point in my career I identify most strongly with the TEAM CBT approach pioneered by Dr. David Burns and a variety of collaborators - many of whom are involved with the Feeling Good Institute. I got invaluable training to start with from the psychology department at The University of West Georgia. All of those things and whatever else I happen to be reading or listening will probably be figuring in pretty strongly.
It is good marketing. I mean, let’s be honest, I love writing and creating, but at least in part I’m hoping to catch some attention and have my practice moving.
It is a place for me to practice what I preach - to be bold, to make mistakes, and to acknowledge mistakes when I make them.
So I hope that you find it enjoyable and worth reading. Anytime you have feedback for me, I’ll love to hear it. You can email me at ljdavis@lifejourneys.co. I wish I could leave comments open on it, but I suspect I will not be attentive enough to those comments, and don’t want to accidentally create a new place for people to be toxic to each other.
If you’ve read this far, thanks for reading, I hope you come back, and I’d love any feedback you have for me about my website, my blog, my taste in music or my fashion sense ;-)
